Enriching the Lives of Young Adults on the Verge of Homelessness

In Central Florida, many young adults have the ability and desire to succeed but lack the stability and support most of us rely on during early adulthood. Some are aging out of foster care. Others are leaving unsafe or unstable home environments. All are navigating adulthood without a safety net. At this critical life stage, the absence of stable housing, guidance, and accountability can quickly lead to homelessness, incarceration, or long-term dependency.

For more than a decade, The Faine House has provided young adults ages 18–23 with a safe place to live and the structure needed to move forward with confidence.

A Place to RISE

Located in the Pine Hills community of Orlando, The Faine House operates from a 7,000-square-foot residential home with 10 private bedroom suites. Residents stay an average of 16 months—long enough to stabilize, build skills, and prepare for independent living.

The Faine House is much more than housing.

Every resident participates in the RISE Program: Resilience, Independence, and Sustainable Empowerment. This is a structured, intentional approach that blends compassion with accountability. Residents are active participants in their own progress, setting goals related to education, employment, savings, and personal growth while receiving consistent guidance and mentorship along the way.

What Happens Without Support?

Without programs like The Faine House, young adults leaving foster care or unsafe environments face significantly higher risks of:

These outcomes are not the result of a lack of potential, but of a lack of opportunity, stability, and consistent support at a pivotal moment in life.

Comparing youth supported by these programs until the age of 21 vs. youth with no support after 18:

  • 68% continued their education in traditional or vocational schools (vs. 31%)
  • 37% were college students (vs. 12%)
  • Data shows a decline in substance abuse, violent and destructive behaviors and pregnancies
  • Data reflects an increase in financial stability

How We Came To Be:

Being adopted himself, former NFL player Jeff Faine understood firsthand how life-changing it can be when someone believes in you.

Together with his wife, Brittnie, Jeff envisioned a program that would offer young adults what so many are missing at the most vulnerable point in their lives: safe housing, consistent mentorship, educational and employment support, and the opportunity to learn how to manage life independently.

Faine Family

In 2011, The Faine House opened its doors to young adults ages 18–23 who needed someone to walk alongside them—not just temporarily, but intentionally.

Since then, dozens of Central Florida young adults have lived at The Faine House. Many opened their first bank account here. Many found their first stable job. Some attended technical school or earned a college degree. All were given the chance to discover who they could become outside the limitations of their past.

In 2022, the organization formally reorganized as The Faine House, Inc., an independent 501(c)(3), expanding its reach and strengthening its long-term impact in the community.

Why RISE Works

When young adults are given stability, responsibility, and the expectation to rise to the occasion, they do.

Residents are expected to work, pursue education or training,  and actively engage in their own growth.

In return, they receive safe housing, mentorship, transportation support, life skills training, and the time needed to build a sustainable future. It’s not a handout. It’s a partnership and it’s changing lives.
