For more than a decade, The Faine House has provided stability, mentorship, and life-changing opportunity for young adults ages 18–23 who have aged out of foster care or are living without traditional family support. Today, our Central Florida nonprofit is taking a bold step forward with a new initiative designed to extend that support into the most critical stage of early adulthood.

Introducing “Close to Home”: A New Residential Community for The Faine House Graduates

The Faine House is expanding its mission with Close to Home, a purpose-built residential community that will serve as a next-level program for young adults who have completed their time on campus and are ready for the final transition toward independent living.

A private donor has already pledged an extraordinary $1 million commitment, signaling early momentum as The Faine House finalizes total project costs and prepares to launch a full capital campaign in 2026. Conversations are currently underway with Orange County regarding a three-acre parcel adjacent to the existing campus, which would serve as the future site of the community.

A Supportive Neighborhood Designed for Stability and Belonging

The vision for Close to Home combines affordability, structure, and community—key elements that young adults consistently identify as barriers when taking the next step on their own.

The planned community will include:

  • Up to ten small homes or cottages, creating a sense of both independence and safety
  • Shared green space to foster connection, community, and well-being
  • A community resource pavilion for workshops, networking opportunities, and life-skills education
  • Reduced rent with utilities included, offering stability during this essential stage of self-sufficiency
  • A two-year residency program exclusively for graduates of The Faine House
  • Continued access to case management, mentoring, financial literacy training, and career support from the professional team guiding their transition

These features reflect a simple truth: independence isn’t something young adults develop overnight—especially those who have navigated childhood without consistent support.

“Most young people aren’t ready to live fully on their own at 18 – or even at 23,” said Jeff Faine, Co-Founder of The Faine House. “Rent is expensive, life is complicated, and without support, even the most determined young adults can struggle to stay on their feet. The Faine House was created to fill that gap. This new ‘Close to Home’ community extends that care, offering a safe and affordable next step toward lasting independence.”

Project Timeline

The Faine House has outlined a thoughtful, multi-phase development plan to ensure long-term sustainability:

  1. Secure Property (2025–2026) – Finalize land acquisition
  2. Select Development & Construction Partners (2026) – Identify partners aligned with mission-driven, quality construction
  3. Launch Capital Campaign (2026) – Invite public and private investment to bring the vision to life
  4. Begin Site Work & Groundbreaking (2027) – Prepare infrastructure, utilities, and foundations
  5. Grand Opening (2028) – Welcome the first residents on Move-In Day

A Vision Made Possible Through Community Support

The creation of Close to Home reflects The Faine House’s unwavering belief that every young adult deserves the opportunity to build a stable, independent future—and that a community’s involvement can make that possible.

As the organization prepares for the next phase of planning, early supporters have a unique opportunity to shape a legacy that will serve generations of young adults.
